So I hit a bird.

I was doing 70 on the left lane, and had between 2 and 3 seconds to react. In retrospect I probably did the right thing -- too little time to hit the brakes, and swerving would have been too dangerous. Besides, chances are the pigeon would have been hit by the guy right behind me anyway, also doing 70. Regardless of the rationalization, I can't help feeling terrible.

On the bright side, no damage to the bumper.

Did you fry it on the muffler afterwards, for that true ghetto snack?

I'll probably find that funny tomorrow. Not right now.

you don't know the number of dead dogs i've seen on Mumbai roads over the last couple of months. really gross stuff. and you have cars repeatedly running over these already dead things.

really terrible stuff.

hmmm... so you now have one sin on your resume

Why is running over a dead body that terrible? I mean, there is no pain anymore to anybody. Agreed, it would *look* gross.

Regardless of the rationalization, I can't help feeling terrible. Your rationalization seems honest, so I think you should make conscious efforts to reconcile your feelings with the truth that you are not guilty. This might look like a platitude, but in practice I don't see people attempting it.
