A roundup of futureshock-inducing news this week.

That's the Diamond synchrotron - a half kilometer long particle accelerator that supposedly produces light ten billion times brighter than the Sun. They're using it to look inside ancient texts that are too fragile to be opened, like the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Google is sponsoring a race to the moon with a timeframe of 2012 for collecting the prize. If it pans out, in ten years we might have a bunch of moon colonies.

Completely mind controlled wheelchair. Works by listening to the electrical signals your brain sends to your larynx when you try to speak.
