Cleaning up the web with the "Stylish" extension [Dec. 6th, 2008|12:07 am]

After complaining about the Google reader user interface a while ago, I made a few simple stylesheet tweaks to it, making it less distracting and more readable (to me anyway). At yodha's prompting, I uploaded my stylesheet to userstyles.org yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised to see the install count at almost 50 today.

It looks like many people share my strong preference for sparse, clean pages, which is very gratifying. (Although there seem to be far more weirdos on userstyles.org furiously turning web sites into eyesores with dark backgrounds :-) If you use google reader, give my stylesheet a try. You will need to install the Stylish extension first. It's like Greasemonkey, but for tinkering with the CSS of web pages.

I also use a custom stylesheet for Wikipedia. Check out the before and after screenies. Like? Want? Let me know.
