Returning to India after a gap, it is a bit of a shock to see things that are quintessentially Indian even though I'm fully expecting to see them. Like the number and variety of superfluous jobs. There's a guy whose job description appears to be to pick up the phone and give it to the person who answers the phone. You can't make this up. Then there's another guy whose job is to remind the first guy to pick up the phone if he forgets to do that. Maybe these guys have other jobs, but they weren't doing anything else the whole time I was observing them. There are three people who share the arduous task of picking up passengers' suitcases and placing it on the security screening belt which is right next to it. They all take turns at it, having to recoup after a few minutes of lifting.
Update: Stand back people, we have a winner for the most redundant job ever. There's a guy in a lavatory at the Taj Coromandel pulling paper towels out of the dispenser and handing them to people after they pee.
Then there's the crowds. The internet cafe is full at 3 in the morning.
Stuff seems to have gotten costlier compared to what I remember. A bar of chocolate is a hundred Rupees?!
P.S, anyone wanna meet up/hang out? sunson, any chance you'll be attending the next Ilugc meeting?
