I'm posting this from my new PDA! It's a HP IPAQ 5550. Handwriting works OK. Battery life is not great. WiFi works in school , but for some reason not at home. I think its because there are about 30 different WAPs visible and there's a lot of interference and it gets really confused. Too early to say definitively how I feel about it overall.

Edit: I just made my first VoIP WiFi call with my PDA :)

It might probably be because the router software at your home might be buggy. Get the latest firmware for your router and see if it works.

Hmm.. never thought of that. It works just fine from my (and roommate's) laptop, so I'm thinking that's somewhat unlikely.

I am contemplating on a PDA too. Do you have any advice? I am sure you must have compared different products. I was thinking of the Tungsten E2. Did you have a reason you went with the IPAQ.

Yes. See my previous post (http://arvindn.livejournal.com/35945.html) on this topic. One of the things I want to do on my PDA is make VoIP over WiFi phone calls using skype, and skype only runs on pocket pc PDAs.

One piece of practical advice: the market value of a PDA drops greatly once you open the box. So I got a couple of months old unit on ebay for about a fourth of the price. I would never buy a new PDA.

Whichever OS you go with, get the newer models (eg TX instead of E2). They are costlier but have more memory and more features.

If you have any other specific questions feel free to ask.
