Zippers are much more...efficiant. Both for platonic and more exotic uses. And they are much faster to undo. As well they are much easier to get back on.
Women have no reason not to choose the zipper. But men must consider Jerry Seinfeld's words: "that is the one place in my wardrobe where I do not want sharp, interlocking metal teeth." And for some reason, I never forget to button up when I put pants on (presumably because you have to do it from the bottom up) whereas I occasionally forget to zip up.
In spite of all this, I vote for the zipper :)

I suppose that would be rather unpleasant. The clitoris doesn't exactly stick out and move around so as you said, women do not have this issue.

There is a story that I associate with this. It involves 4th grade. And why I didn't wear jeans again until high school. And how I didn't know what a "fly" was.
"I suppose that would be rather unpleasant."
You bet. It's hard to imagine how anyone can be stupid enough to have an accident that way, but I've done it a couple of times as a kid. And there's the image from that bad Ben Stiller movie forver burned onto my retinas.
Which movie is this? My comedic tastes are somewhere between Monty Python and The Importance of Being Earnest (if you have not seen this you should it is a very amusing piece of British comedy). So I tend not to see anything outside of said range.
The link to the picture didn't work but I found it on YouTube. It is kinda creepy. And embarressing. One of the many reasons I am glad I do not have a penis. That and carrying it around seems awkward.

surprising you ask this question. I saw Aviator day before y'day. In the movie, the same issue is being discussed: zipper or buttons. As far as I remember the object of interest was window drapes or something similar. In the movie they seemed to like the buttons and not zippers.
I vote for zippers but not for the movie. I wouldn't have recommended the movie even if they liked zippers.
