What an improbable series of events! [Jan. 18th, 2007|12:18 am]

1. Recordsetting cold weather in Texas. My car is covered in an inch of ice all over. I'd never have dreamt this was possible.

2. Being crazy, I'm hacking away at the ice with an icepick at around midnight.

3. My phone is in my pantspocket, and I didn't realize this. All the physical activity led to some buttons getting pushed on my phone.

4. These random buttonpushes managed to dial someone on my phonebook! This step by itself is quite improbable, considering that you have to push a specific button to unlock the phone first.

5. I recently got a new phone and phone number. So the person who got called didn't know who the caller was, and got a voicemail with nothing but weird noises in the middle of the night :-)

She called me anyway to see who the hell it was, otherwise I would have been blissfully unaware that any of this ever happened!

Haha! You people from warm places like India and Texas have never had to dela with unspeakable cold. But now you know how us in the north suffer!

Sorry. Coming from a cold places and hating the cold my one of a very few satisfactions during this time of year is when the cold front moves to places where people don't have much experience dealing with cold and watching them be confused by the cold. Run on sentance. I know. Tired. I sleep now.

I've spent a few months in Shimla and a few in Toronto. That was a long time ago, so I'm definitely in the "don't have much experience dealing with cold" category, but nevertheless it's not like the sight of snow is completely bewildering :)

So how would you remove the ice from your car?

They sell these scraping devices up here that I don't think they would sell in Texas as it never snows there. But if you can find something with a broad, sharp edge with a handle that should make life easier. Another think to do is to turn the heat on in your car. It melts the ice from the inside and makes the scraping easier. Or you can have lots of patience and just melt it off that way.

Toronto is a great city. They are adding on to one of the art museums and it is gorgeous.

Your cold weather was on our news tonight, actually. We're also having record-setting chills in Vegas. (By "record-setting" I mean 30s.)
On the bright side, at least we aren't California citrus farmers...
