Blog aggregators are the best thing since sliced bread [Nov. 14th, 2007|06:21 am]

Hey people,

I've set up a theory of computing blog aggregator. The idea is simple: if you're interested in any of the blogs on there, you're probably interested in all of them, so you can subscribe to a single RSS feed instead of a dozen. There are currently 11 blogs that are aggregated, hopefully there will be more soon. Of course, you don't need to do anything when new blogs are added.

If you read theory blogs please let me know if you experience any issues with the site or the feed. I've tested the site with Firefox, IE7, Safari and Opera.

Anyone who's part of the theory community and writes about theory is fair game to add to the aggregator. Even if someone writes about theory only occasionally, I should be able to add a category-specific feed, so let me know if you know someone I can add.

Editing the templates and css files and fixing a bug in the software was most of the work, so the incremental effort in setting up another aggregator is trivial. So I'm probably going to set up aggregators for other research topics I'm interested in as well. If you want something in particular, ask.

Oh, and this is the logo.

This is nice! I always wonder: is there a way to also see how many comments are there on a particular post (so that one can decide if it is worthwhile to go to the actual blog and read them) ?

It is sad to see that there are so many theory blogs but none focusing on Crypto. I hope someone is listening.

the fact that there are way too many mutually incompatible commenting systems out there makes this feature virtually impossible to implement, i think. plus none of these commenting systems has a complete feature list! but that's a rant for another post.

i've complained about the lack of crypto blogs before.. i really don't understand why.
