|How would you decide?

Netgear wireless router is selling like hotcakes for $35 on amazon, through tigerdirect, and is #1 on the list of movers and shakers in electronics. I'm in the market for a wireless router, so I did the obvious thing and checked out CNet's review of the thing. I was pleasantly surprised to see it had an Editor's rating of "very good", and even an editor's choice award, but scrolling down I got a shock - it has a user rating of 45%, which is horrible. So which do you believe? What's worse, the editor's review claims it is easy for newbies to set up, and the user reviews claim the opposite. On the one hand, the editor could have been biased towards the product because he was a user of it; on the other hand the negative user reviews could be "reverse astroturfing" or whatever its called (or just pure coincidence). Amazon shows you all the reviews of a particular reviewer, so astroturfing is nearly impossible, but CNet doesn't. How would you decide? I think I'm going to go with the editor's view. This |
